Escape from the madding crowd with a stay in this charming one bedroom traditional stone cottage holiday hideaway in the heart of the Turkish countryside. Situated on Kaya Valley Farm, in the village of Kinali, near the ghost town of Kaya, overlooking the Taurus mountains, this one storey cottage will transport you back to the Turkey of days gone by.
The four foot thick stone walls with classic small windows will keep you cool in the hot summer months, and warm in winter. Kaya Cottage is located off the main road, and a has its own private parking spot. There is a traditional flat roof, accessed by external steps, it is the ideal place to enjoy a sundowner overlooking the impressive three thousand metre high Baba Dag mountain. The cottage itself is cosy and bijou, retaining the original two rooms, which have been sympathetically restored. There is a sitting area with two ottoman style sofa beds and lots of books. A wood dining table with six log chairs is a delightful place to entertain indoors. An adjacent kitchen area is fully equipped with all you will need to cater for your holiday, including a fridge freezer, and a hob, grill and microwave. There is a washing machine in the hut in the service yard. Open the French windows from the living area to reveal a paved terrace and the beautiful garden. A hallway leads to a master bedroom which is furnished with a double bed, air-conditioning, and an ensuite bathroom. There is also a separate shower and bathroom. The cottage is decorated to reflect the history of the house, cool neutral creams and beiges blend with traditional Turkish furniture and artefacts.
A mature garden surrounds the cottage, giving it a secluded feel, populated with old trees and in season blossoming plants and flowers. There is a patio dining area with a table and chairs, and a barbeque for some fabulous alfresco entertaining. Whilst a cushioned bench seating spot is perfect for relaxing, there is an egg chair in a little corner for reading a book, and enjoying the peace and quiet of this unique property. There is a small plunge pool in the garden, a great place to relax and chill out under the warmth of the Turkish sun. The cottage can comfortably accommodate up to four guests, perfect for a small family, a couples’ getaway, anniversary, or a special quiet honeymoon.

Kaya Cottage is located in the Kaya Valley, in the small village of Kimali, overlooking the ghost town of Kayakoy, and the beautiful Baba Dag mountain. The cottage is an hour’s drive from Dalaman international airport, and is located between the bustling town of Fethiye, and the tourist destinations of Hisaronu and Olu Deniz, both just fifteen minutes away. The nearest shop is just 300m away and can supply all you will need to cater for your holiday. A short drive to Hisaronu will take you to many supermarkets, cafes, bars, restaurants, and some super souvenir shops too.
Take a trip to the holiday hot spot of Olu Deniz, where you will find one of the world’s best golden sandy beaches, the iconic and much photographed blue lagoon and spit, lively seashore restaurants and bars, and exclusive shops. From here, you can hop aboard a water taxi to Butterfly Valley, or cross the sea to Gemile Island aka Aya Nikola, a natural protected area that is now an open-air museum. For the thrill seekers, head up the hill and take the cable car to the top of Mount Baba Dag, at almost two thousand metres, you can jump off and paraglide solo or in tandem and land on Olu Deniz beach. Trace the past with trips to Xanthos, the ancient capital of Lycia, and home to the oldest republic in the world, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, discover mosaics, amphitheatres, agoras, and an acropolis. Walk the ancient ruins of Patara, the birthplace of St Nicholas, better known as Santa Claus, and lose yourself on its twenty-kilometre sandy beach, and also home to the famous Turkish hatching turtles. Explore the rock tombs of Tlos, carved into the façade of the ancient city ruins, where you will find a necropolis, Roman baths, and an Ottoman Basilica. Head for Letoon to see the mosaic of the goddess Leto, as you wander through the Temple of Apollo. Whilst the honeycomb cliffs of Pinara hosts nine hundred rock tombs and a theatre in verdant setting.
