Anvil Cottage, an idyllic, characterful Grade-II listed retreat, with its own charming garden,is situated near the banks of the ever-changing tidal River Severn in Gatcombe near Blakeney.

Located in a wooded valley which runs down to the Severn, this charming, pet-friendly property serves as the perfect sanctuary for couples, families, or friends seeking both exploration and tranquillity in the picturesque countryside.

Anvil Cottage was originally used to make and repair fishing boats and nets; It was part of a salmon fishery and is next to an old cider mill with a seventeenth-century horse drawn millstone.

Nearby is Drake’s House, where Sir Francis Drake is believed to have lodged whilst buying forest timber for ships.

Please note: from June until the end of September only weekly bookings can be accommodated starting on a Friday. Anvil Cottage consists of an open-plan living space with kitchen equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment and washing machine, a dining area with seating for four guests and a sitting area with Smart TV and electric stove-effect fire. Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits are provided to welcome you and help you settle into your home‑from‑home. The bedrooms consist of a king-size and a ground-floor twin, serviced by a ground-floor bathroom. Outside there is an enclosed rear, multi-level garden with lawn and furniture, as well as off-road parking for two cars. Only a ten minute drive from Lydney station with free parking and regular trains to Cardiff - travel time approximately 40 minutes. Within 1.8 miles, you will find a shop, within 1.4 miles, a pub and within 0.1 miles, the River Severn, Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, bowls and dog blankets available. Sorry, no smoking. WiFi, fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price. Anvil Cottage is a stunning base for your next getaway in Gloucestershire. A beautiful property in an idyllic setting. the garden was very relaxing with nothing but the sound of the birds singing. The cottage was very comfortable & well equipped. Only about 15 minutes away from the beautiful forest of dean. If your after a truly relaxing holiday in a beautiful location, we would definitely recommend Anvil Cottage.

Lovely cottage in a very quiet secluded location! Ample space in the mezzanine double bedroom and a comfortable living space. Good base to explore the Forest of Dean. Delightful couple that own the property and live next door! Thank you for the apples
