Loch Ken is also a popular centre for other water sports including canoeing, sailing and water skiing; for the fit and adventurous open water swimming events are held from time to time.

Local amenities include: Galloway Forest Park affording 300 square miles of Walking, Cycling, Riding and Trekking; Galloway Activity Centre and Loch Ken Marina, both of which are on Loch Ken; several challenging Golf Courses, including New Galloway Golf Club. Troon and Turnberry are just an hours drive away.
